HISTORY

In 2000 the Scouts organised a bike ride to fulfil one of the requirements of the cyclist badge they were working on. It was suggested that the bike ride should be sponsored in order to raise money for the Troop. 5 members of the Troop cycled around the coast of the Wirral and raised £55 for the Troop.

The next bike ride took place in 2003, again this was organised for badge work purposes at first, but sponsorship was mentioned and it became another sponsored bike ride. The troop called it the marathon bike ride as the route was roughly 26 miles long. It was decided that half the money raised this year would go to a local children's charity. We raised £90 between only 4 Scouts. It was decided to keep hold of the charity money to add to further fundraising efforts, these did not take place until the next marathon bike ride in 2004!
