Scott has recently been awarded the Certificate of
Meritorious Conduct by the Chief Scout. He
received the award for his actions in co-ordinating resuscitation assistance
when his grandfather collapsed with a heart attack earlier this year.
Unfortunately, Scott’s grandfather passed away, but his courage continued as
he supported his mother through this tough time and gave a reading at his
grandfather’s funeral. Scott’s mother believes that it was his Scouting
background that helped him in this time of need. “He knew what to do through
the training he had received from Beavers to Scouts".
Scott really deserves this award and I hope he carries on
his training when he moves on to Explorer Scouts in the near future as Scott
will make an excellent leader in the years to come.
The award was presented the Lord Lieutenant of
Merseyside, Alan Waterworth and the Chief Commissioner
for England, Stuart Little, following a nomination approved by the
Chief Scout, George Purdy. The presentation took place at Merseyside Scout
Headquarters in Liverpool City centre during the annual general meeting.
Scott is believed to be the only person in the County
with this award which he is entitled to wear on his uniform for his entire
Scouting career.
